30 Οκτ 2023 · The humerus is the longest and largest bone of the upper limb. It consists of a proximal end, a shaft and a distal end, all which contain important anatomical landmarks. The humerus articulates with the scapula proximally at the glenohumeral joint so it participates in the movements of the shoulder.
We may explore the anatomy of the shoulder [1–3] in layers, starting from the deep- est and moving onto the most superficial: • Bones • Joint capsule and ligaments • Muscles and their tendons • Subcutaneous tissue and skin When considering the shoulder, the bones to describe are the: • Scapula • Humerus • Clavicle • Thoracic wall • Ster...
17 Δεκ 2018 · The humerus is the largest bone of the upper extremity and defines the human brachium (arm). It articulates proximally with the glenoid via the glenohumeral (GH) joint, and distally with the...
Bony components, rotator cuff tendons and muscles can be assessed on MR imaging without arthrographic technique, whereas the articular structures (including glenohumeral ligaments, capsulolabral structures and hyaline cartilage) require arthrography for more accurate assessment.
As a consequence the shoulder joint is highly mobile, where stability takes second place to mobility, as is evident from the shape of the osseous structures: a large humeral head lying on an almost flat scapular surface. Stability is provided mainly by ligaments, tendons and muscles; the bones and capsule are of secondary importance.
7 Αυγ 2023 · The humerus serves as the origin and insertion site of many upper limb muscles that divide into the following distinctions: scapulohumeral muscles, anterior compartment muscles, posterior compartment muscles.
Relevant Anatomy. The articulation between the upper limb and the trunk at the human forequarter is referred to as the shoulder, though in reality this is a complex link-age of joints, of which the glenohumeral joint is only one component.
