8 Νοε 2024 · As the warmed, moist air rises and cools off, the water in the air forms clouds. The whole system of clouds and wind spins and grows, fed by the ocean's heat and water evaporating from the surface. Storms that form north of the equator spin counterclockwise.

As a hurricane moves over cooler water or hits land, it loses the warm water that fuels it and begins to weaken. But dangerous winds can still cause damage, and storm surges—when a strong...
Hurricanes form over the warm ocean water of the tropics. When warm moist air over the water rises, it is replaced by cooler air. The cooler air will then warm and start to rise.
11 Σεπ 2019 · This video is a fun and engaging way to introduce hurricanes to children. In this video kids will learn how hurricanes form, how they get their names, more about the different levels of...
1. Hurricanes are giant tropical storms that produce heavy rainfall and super-strong winds. 2. Hurricanes form over warm ocean waters near the equator. The warm, moist air above the ocean surface rises, causing air from surrounding areas to be “sucked” in.
Hurricanes form where the air is warm in the tropics. They start as weaker storms, called tropical storms, and grow stronger by collecting energy from warm ocean water. They travel over the ocean and then head out of the tropics to higher latitudes.
Enormous waves and torrential rain often cause serious flooding. Hurricanes pick up huge amounts of energy and moisture as they pass over the warm ocean. Some scientists think that global warming may increase the number of hurricanes and make them even more powerful.
