A-G Sod Farms offers several premium Hybrid Bermuda varieties that are drought tolerant and thrive in California’s climate. Two traditional varieties are Tifway and Tifgreen>. Both of these versatile hybrid Bermudas have a long reputation of providing an excellent turfgrass surface for parks, sports fields, golf courses and residential lawns.
Hybrid Bermuda is a very dense, low-growing, fine-textured turf which produces lateral runners requiring concrete borders for containment. Compared to other hybrid Bermudas (such as Santa Ana® and Tifway®), Hybrid Bermuda has a finer texture and a slower growth rate.
Available May-September. Tifway II hybrid bermudagrass has the shortest winter dormancy period and greens earlier in the Spring, making it the best bermuda for coastal California.

Download Spec Sheet. Santa Ana bermuda was born and bred California. It is one of the most drought tolerant hybrid bermuda grasses, with a short dormancy period. While normally used in Southern California, Santa Ana pushes the northern boundary of the transition zone, and is quite successful.
