This document is a compilation of descriptions (grade descriptors) of each grade for each group of subjects in the IB Diploma Programme. Grade descriptors consist of characteristics of performance at each grade. The descriptors apply to groups of subjects but substantial similarity exists across sets of group grade descriptors.

This tool provides an approximate conversion of IB grades to GPA and should be used as a reference only. Actual grade conversions may vary between universities and institutions. The results obtained from this tool are not official and should not replace official evaluations.
IB scores are converted to GPA using a conversion chart aligning each IB score with a GPA value. For example, a score of 7 is equivalent to a 4.0 GPA, 6 is equivalent to a 3.7 GPA, and so on. Each score is converted and then averaged for a final GPA.
