Iberian Lynxes are carnivores and eat mainly small mammals, particularly rabbits, and birds. Deer and mouflon are prey when rabbits are scarce.
The Iberian lynx competes for prey with the Iberian wolf (Canis lupus signatus), red fox (Vulpes vulpes), the Egyptian mongoose (Herpestes ichneumon), and the European wildcat (Felis silvestris). Also, it often kills other smaller carnivores such as the aforementioned red fox, Egyptian mongoose and common genet ( Genetta genetta ). [ 32 ]
