24 Μαΐ 2024 · Average temperatures range from -2°C (28.4°F) to 2°C (35.6°F), and sometimes drop below freezing. Also, winter in Iceland is marked by heavy snowfall, especially in the north, and short daylight hours, with the sun rising around 11 am and setting in the early afternoon.
Here, the monthly average temperature ranges from -0.5 °C (31 °F) in January and February to 12 °C (53 °F) in July. Being sheltered from the south wind, Akureyri is located in the least rainy area of Iceland; in fact, precipitation amounts to 550 mm (21.5 in) per year.
The average temperature is of 1.2 °C (34 °F), with a minimum of -1.8 °C (28.8 °F) and a maximum of 4.2 °C (39.6 °F). On the coldest nights, which normally occur at the beginning of the month, the temperature usually drops to around -9 °C (16 °F).
