If the condition is not met, the function will return a different predefined result. The returned result can be one of the following: Specific text. Cell/Range reference.

Use the Excel IF function when you want to test something, and show one result if the test result is True, and a different result if the test result is False. In Excel 365, there is also an IFS function, which can replace multiple nested IF functions.
STEP 1: Begin with the outermost IF function to check if the score is above the Distinction threshold. STEP 2: Use a subsequent nested IF function to determine if it’s within the Credit range if the first condition is false. STEP 3: Continue nesting IF functions to test for a Pass.
In cell D4, create a nested =IF formula that does the following: Checks that it is Test 1 or Test 2 (if not, the formula should return the text Not Test 1 or Test 2) Checks that the value is between the minimum and maximum for that test.
