17 Σεπ 2013 · Virtues: We love Ilex glabra ‘Densa’ for its lustrous, dark green foliage that creates a dense display all year round. White flowers bloom from early spring into summer followed by tiny, rounded jet-black fruits in fall through spring, often enjoyed by wildlife.
Dark green leathery leaves of Ilex glabra 'Densa' are rounder and wider than I. g. 'Shamrock'. It will become a tall but dense-leafed shrub. Takes pruning well. Evergreen, it is also wet site and salt tolerant. The top performer in the recent shrub trials at Longwood Gardens.
