17 Σεπ 2013 · Virtues: We love Ilex glabra ‘Densa’ for its lustrous, dark green foliage that creates a dense display all year round. White flowers bloom from early spring into summer followed by tiny, rounded jet-black fruits in fall through spring, often enjoyed by wildlife.
Dark green leathery leaves of Ilex glabra 'Densa' are rounder and wider than I. g. 'Shamrock'. It will become a tall but dense-leafed shrub. Takes pruning well. Evergreen, it is also wet site and salt tolerant. The top performer in the recent shrub trials at Longwood Gardens.
13 Μαρ 2023 · 'Densa' grows to 4 to 6 feet in height with a slightly greater width. 'Compacta' grows to 3 to 4 feet in height with a spread up to 6 feet. It has a tighter, more rounded growth habit than other forms.

Densa Inkberry Holly will grow to be about 4 feet tall at maturity, with a spread of 3 feet. It tends to be a little leggy, with a typical clearance of 2 feet from the ground. It grows at a slow rate, and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for 50 years or more.
'Densa' seems to be a female clone also that usually has sparse fruit set, and it has slightly darker leaves and they are wider and more rounded than 'Compacta' is all I can tell. Actually, if a male cultivar as 'Nordic' were planted nearby, that should improve the fruit set.
Dense, rounded evergreen shrub up to 3m in height, with small spineless oval-shaped, glossy dark green leaves, in some forms, the foliage turns purplish in winter. In spring, clusters of white flowers appear followed by small black berries on female plants if pollinated by a male plant.
