Most of the fire departments in the state of Illinois (as well as many in surrounding states) belong to an organization called the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System or MABAS. This is an organization to provide mutual aid through statewide preplanning by the member departments.
Since September 11th, MABAS has rapidly grown throughout Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, and parts of Iowa and Missouri. Day-to-day MABAS extra alarms are designed to provide the fast response of emergency resources to communities during ongoing emergencies.

8 Αυγ 2024 · The MABAS Divisions 4 & 5 Specialized Response Team works with more than 40 member fire departments to coordinate specialized responses to emergencies such as hazardous materials releases, structural collapses, rope, confined space or trench rescues, water rescues and recoveries as well as wildland fires.
