Lines of latitude (also called parallels) are imaginary lines that circle Earth’s surface, running east and west parallel to the Equator. Lines of longitude (also called meridians) run between the geographic North Pole and the geographic South Pole and are used to measure distances from the prime meridian.
24 Ιουν 2024 · One of the most well-known imaginary lines on Earth is the Equator. Located at 0 degrees latitude, the Equator runs horizontally, equally dividing the Earth into the Northern and Southern hemispheres.
The Equator is the imaginary circle around that is everywhere equidistant from the geographic poles and lies in a plane perpendicular to Earth’s axis. The Equator divides Earth into the Northern and Southern hemispheres. In the system of latitude and longitude, the Equator is the line with 0° latitude.
19 Οκτ 2023 · An equator is an imaginary line around the middle of a planet or other celestial body. It is halfway between the north pole and the south pole, at 0 degrees latitude. An equator divides the planet into a northern hemisphere and a southern hemisphere. Earth is widest at its Equator.
26 Ιαν 2020 · Four of the most significant imaginary lines running across the surface of Earth are the equator, the Tropic of Cancer, the Tropic of Capricorn, and the prime meridian. While the equator is the longest line of latitude on Earth (the line where Earth is widest in an east-west direction), the tropics are based on the sun's position in relation to ...
24 Σεπ 2021 · The imaginary lines on Earth are lines drawn on the planisphere map. These lines are displayed vertically and horizontally, creating a defined grid used to locate any planet point. These lines are called meridians and parallels.
29 Ιαν 2020 · The equator is an imaginary line that runs from east to west on Earth's surface and is exactly halfway between the north and south poles (the northernmost and southernmost points on the Earth). It also divides the Earth into the northern hemisphere and the southern hemisphere and is an important line of latitude for navigational purposes.
