Absolutely agree on iCloud. And realistically, this seems like the best solution. Apple has plenty of money, but developing an Android app or any other platform isn’t “free”. So perhaps if that’s what the EU says, then that’s the way they will approach it.
iMessage is a huge draw for Android users who want to move to iOS. A $5/year subscription is nothing compared to a consumer getting sucked into the Apple ecosystem for years. This alone is why iMessage will never come to Android.
