All Shall Fall, although a brilliant come-back album, is a bit too steady and safe to be hailed as one of the band's greatest works. Seven years is an extremely long time and it is perhaps unrealistic to have expected anything to the standard of At The Heart Of Winter or any of the band's other classics.
All Shall Fall emphasizes this in a big way. Its predecessors this decade, Damned in Black and Sons of Northern Darkness, featured clean production unusual for black metal.
It's been a good few years since Abbath, Horgh and new recruit Apollyon (he of blackened thrashers Aura Noir) reunited under the banner of Immortal, and seven whole years since their last assault, the glorious Sons Of Northern Darkness.
The stellar opening track All Shall Fall shows just how talented Immortal clearly are, with a very progressive song structure, boasting crushing mid-paced riffs and flurries of insanely fast tremolo picking, before finding the most beautiful interlude in almost all of the black metal genre.

The short of it is that "All Shall Fall" is a pretty good IMMORTAL album, but one that does not reach the bar set by "Sons of Northern Darkness".
