In-Person Course Descriptions (not all area offered): 101-1st Semester Beginners #1: ASL & CASE. Textbook-“A Basic Course in American Sign Language” 1st Semester Beginners: Course covers Chapters 1-6 textbook. Emphasis is on vocabulary and fingerspelling.
Our ASL program introduces basic production and comprehension skills, including spelling and numbers. You will develop your conversational ability and be introduced to ASL grammar. With a growing demand for qualified interpreters, you could work in a variety of settings: Public or private agencies. Schools.
Virtual (V) course options are 101-V Beginners #1 and 201-V Beginners #2. In-Person course options are 101 Beginners #1, 201 Beginners #2, and 301 Intermediate #3. If there is room in the course you register for, ASLS will email you a separate “Buy Page” link for paying your tuition.
Classes are held once a week, for 2 hours. Semesters are 6 weeks long. Level 1 is a 6 week session focusing on the introduction to American Sign Language and Deaf Culture. You will develop a strong basic ASLary (OUR word for vocabulary), syntax, and grammar.
