Mak Inang (Jawi: مق عناڠ) is a traditional Malay dance that originated from the time of Malacca Sultanate. The dance is accompanied by a unique music which is believed to have been composed by the order of Sultan Mahmud Shah of Malacca.

This “traditional” dance is said to have originated from Malaysia, and belongs to the Malay community. Apparently, the music accompanying this dance style was composed by Sultan Mahmud Shah of Malacca.

In the 1920s and '30s, many of the legendary territory bands played there as they swung through south-east Texas, among them Alphonso Trent and Tenrrence T. Holder.
One of them is the Traditional Malay Dance which is Mak Inang. It shows the true nature of the Malay people and the way of Malay life. This research is conducted to study the characteristic of Mak Inang and the dance steps.
