ADHD to specific behaviors and outcomes associated with adult romantic relationships, both across and within the two major subtypes, focusing on relational satisfaction and patterns of communication and conflict resolution.
10 Σεπ 2020 · Anxious attachment was associated with lower romantic relationship quality, but avoidant attachment was associated with more positive relationship outcomes. Results also indicated that the negative effect of ADHD symptoms on romantic relationship quality may be exacerbated by a partner’s high level of anxious attachment.
The most common ADHD subtype was inattentive (42%), followed by combined (28%), and then hyperactive/impulsive (9%). The remaining participants either did not know their subtype or had been diagnosed before subtypes were introduced.
Multiple studies indicate that adults with ADHD or significant symptoms of the disorder perceive their romantic relationships less positively than those without ADHD.
