Beginning September 8th multiple fires ignited, fueled by sustained hot, dry, straight-line winds rapidly spreading wildfires, triggering evacuation orders through the county. The Archie Creek Fire impacted approximately 100,000 residents due to evacuation orders, fire, or smoke damage.
At this time, Oregon was experiencing widespread strong winds, high temperatures, and low humidity, resulting in high fire risk. Any sources of ignition were at higher risk for causing fires. As of September 25, 2020, the Brattain Fire covered 50,951 acres and was 90% contained.
