27 Οκτ 2010 · The increased top speed limiter is a function of the tires equipped. On M-sport models and those equipped with summer tires, the higher top speed limiter is included. The X5 50i does not come with this because standard tires are all-season and likely limited to 210km/h.

Got a used 2016 750i xDrive M sport and it comes with "Increased top speed limiter" as an option. Not wanting to test it on public roads but does anyone know what it actually means? Searched the forum and found nothing. When BMW comes with performance tires it allows the same speed limit as it has in germany 155 mph.
26 Αυγ 2021 · I'm going to get a 22 m340i (north america) , but made a mistake by chosen All-Season RFT, which sets the speed limit to 130mph I believe. Has anyone ever tried to add the "increased top speed limiter" option successfully? That will increase the speed limit to 155mph. I've read some threads talking about it's doable within 10 engine hours.
If your car comes with the performance run flats (or performance non runflats), you get option 840 for increased top speed limiter. If your car comes with non performance tires, its 130 (pretty sure its 130).
To get the Higher speed limiter, the vehicle must have been originally ordered with "Mixed Performance Tires" or "Mixed Performance Summer Tires." This automatically adds the "Increased Top Speed Limiter" raising the limit to 155 MPH. This gives you the 8.0" wide front and 8.5" wide rear tires.
Living in NYC, why do you really care about a speed limiter? It's not like it limits your acceleration potential, and if you exceeded even the 130mph limit, you'd be a danger to both yourself and everyone else on the road...do you track your vehicle? I doubt there's few places that even 130 would limit you in a street legal vehicle.
7 Ιουν 2012 · If you choose the Sport Line or M Sport Line and performance summer tires, it adds the Increased Top Speed Limiter option, which increases the speed limiter on the car to a higher speed (probably 150 or 155 MPH) as it's been on previous models with the Sport Package or the M Sport Package.
