  1. As of August 8, 2023, burning permits are no longer required for open and recreational burning within Independence Township and the City of the Village of Clarkston. All other rules of the ordinance, including designated burn days still apply.

  2. The Township and the City of Clarkston no longer require an open burning permit, however, residents must still adhere to all applicable rules found within their municipality's open burning ordinance. Parcels of less than 3 acres must follow the burn date calendar.
