ABSTRACT AND INDEXING DATABASE. Are your patrons challenged by conducting systematic reviews, meta-analyses, or literature reviews? Are students struggling to easily identify high-quality, peer-reviewed research? Do researchers need help remaining abreast of the latest advances in psychology?
Index terms are controlled vocabulary terms used in database records to make searching easier and more successful. By standardizing the words or phrases used to represent concepts, you don't need to try and figure out all the ways different authors could refer to the same concept.

Depending on your topic it will be important to search other databases too. A number of databases are highlighted on this page, but this list is not exhaustive.
The Thesaurus of Psychological Index Terms ® is the controlled vocabulary used by the American Psychological Association's (APA) professional indexers to index all of APA's databases: PsycINFO®, PsycARTICLES®, PsycBOOKS®, PsycEXTRA®, and PsycCRITIQUES®.
