The Battle of Corydon was the only official Civil War battle in Indiana, and the battle site is the only one north of the Ohio River. The site commemorates the effort of Confederate Gen. John Hunt Morgan to spread the war to the north. The Corydon Battlefield is a five-acre park located on the east side of State Route 135, just south of Corydon.

The John Hunt Morgan Heritage Trail follows the route of Confederate Brig. Gen. John Hunt Morgan’s daring and innovative Great Raid of 1863. This unique Ohio driving tour begins at Harrison and ends 557 miles later near West Point. It features 56 interpretive wayside exhibits and over 600 directional signs.

The Battle of Corydon is listed along side Gettysburg as the only two civil war battle sites on northern soil. This park reminds us of our history and is also listed listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The log cabin has been restored and is open Friday through Sunday (varying times) during the summer season.
In all, over 208,000 men from Indiana served during the war. They made up 141 regiments of infantry, 16 regiments of cavalry, and 26 batteries of artillery. The Indiana troops fought in seventeen states with most of the troops serving in the western theater of operations.
