Marley Ultrasonic Oil Level Switch controls are used to monitor and alarm low oil level conditions in a cooling tower gearbox using ultrasonic sound wave technology via a set of probes. The set point switch is factory mounted in the oil level piping; field calibration is not required.
The GearGuard is a combined gear-drive monitor: vibration, oil level and oil temperature. It monitors the critical performance parameters in the gear drive and issues alarms or interrupts power to the cooling tower electromotor when critical thresholds are reached.
Centrifugal Pumps, Electric Motors and Gearboxes are all suitable for being lubricated and/or preserved with Oil Mist, and the benefits of implementing this technology can be very attractive for all industries that employ large amounts rotating machinery.
It is important to check the oil level weekly using the dipstick with the gear unit stopped. The first oil change should be made after 100 hours, never after 800 hours of operation. Subsequently, the oil should be renewed after 4000 to 8000 hours, never after 18 months of operation.
While providing maintenance to your cooling tower, be sure to thoroughly inspect the drive shafts and couplings: Proper inspection of the gearbox is required to ensure your cooling tower is running at or above peak performance. Regular inspections will help to prolong the life of the gearbox and potentially reduce overall energy.
