14 Ιουλ 2023 · The line intercept method/transect (LIT) has been used by plant ecologists for many years to estimate plant density. The method is simple to describe and involves locating a line transect or transects at random and measuring the proportion of the line (s) intercepted by the objects (e.g., plants) and the number of objects intercepted.
The line-intercept method was highlighted as a tool to 1) quickly determine community structure and 2) investigate the relationship between plant species and any independent variable present along a transitional zone.
The line intercept method discussed in Chapter 4 is one example of a family of methods for estimating abundance from transects. Another important method for estimating populations with transect lines is line transect sampling.
Biological Significance of Allometry. Both the slope (α) and the intercept (b) of allometries have biological meaning, although this meaning will depend on the scaling relationship in...
The line intercept method is simple, just measure the distance of first contact to the last contact of the species along the line. But, what should be done when plants overlap on the line? And what if there is a gap in intercept for a single plant?
1 Ιαν 2000 · We used a line-intersect method, as described by Cummings and Smith (2000) to measure woody plant species composition, abundance, browse availability (bites available), and browse use (bites...
1 Μαΐ 2007 · Interest in surveys for monitoring plant abundance is increasing, due in part to the need to quantify the rate of loss of biodiversity. Line transect sampling offers an efficient way to monitor many species.
