11 Μαΐ 2007 · I am currently in the process of updating an older drawing, and it has an internal thread callout of M7 x .75-6H. Under the thread callout it also calls out the minimum Major Diameter, Pitch Diameter limits, and Minor Diameter limits.
A fit between metric threads is indicated by internal thread class fit followed by external thread tolerance class separated by a slash; e.g., M10 x 1.5-6H/6g. The class fit is specified by tolerance grade (numeral) and by tolerance position (letter). General purpose fit 6g (external) 6H (internal) Close fit 5g6g (external) 6H (internal)
10 Απρ 2012 · Even if the drawing is metric a UN thread should be called out in inch values. The callout specifies a designation, it's not really a dimension. I came across this while working in France. The drawings were of course metric but we used a good old NPT tapered pipe thread. From Machinery's Handbook:
1 Μαρ 2007 · I have a part that has an 1.95 ID and a 2.13 OD. It has internal threads that are 20tpi. the insert for the part is 1.95 OD and has external threads that are 20tpi. Both will be machine threads. My question is how do I lable the call out on a print?
Screw thread terms and definitions can be found in BS 6528 (identical with ISO5408-1983) and these will be adopted in future standards and revised existing standards.
There are three methods of representing screw threads on a drawing. Detailed ; Schematic ; Simplified . Screw thread representation present in this chapter is in accordance with the ASME Y14.6-2001 standard. Detailed Representation . A detailed representation is a close approximation of the appearance of an actual screw thread.
Here are the five steps to interpreting thread callout: Look at the numbers in the callout. A few examples are outlined below #4-40 x 0.5 1/4-20 x 5/8 M3-0.50 x 10. Understand the first number in the callout – This indicates the major diameter. Unified threads (in inches) express diameter as a fixed number #0 through #10, like example A ...
