The Dept. of Public Safety's Fire Service Training Bureau provides education, training, and certification for Iowa's firefighters.
We provide cutting edge Fire Suppression Services to protect the 217,000 residents of Des Moines and their property. Our department includes three divisions of firefighters, 10 fire stations, nine fire engines, five ladder trucks, and nine ambulances.
The program provides training in detecting and eliminating fire hazards and causes through periodic inspections, remedial recommendations, and systematic follow-ups.
29 Αυγ 2022 · Des Moines, Iowa — Monday, August 29, 2022 — The 99th Firefighter Academy is fast tracking 15 firefighter recruits to graduate before the holidays. The firefighters who began training today will actually begin working in Des Moines Fire Department stations before members of the 98th Firefighter Academy which began training in January of 2022.
