  1. Benefit formulas are established by Iowa Code Chapter 411. Revisions can only be instituted by the Iowa General Assembly. The Board of Trustees and the Administration of the retirement system are required to administer in compliance with the statutory provisions.

  6. The Municipal Fire and Police Retirement System of Iowa (MFPRSI) was established as a result of action taken by the Iowa General Assembly in 1990 to establish a state-wide retirement system for fire and police personnel covered by provisions of Iowa Code Chapter 411.
