27 Μαΐ 2021 · No matter what I try, the latest version of iTunes for Windows 12.11.3 keeps failing to connect to Apple's servers to download the support software. The error window reads: iTunes was unable to download the iPod Support software. The network connection was reset.
18 Μαΐ 2022 · Diagnostics says "iPod support service is not installed" and "iTunes Helper is not running". These components appear not to be part of the latest Windows 10 install through either the download OR through Microsoft Store. This is no longer user error, this is developer error.

Get the latest version of iTunes so you'll have all the newest bug fixes and security updates, and then see if this solves the problem.
