It does this through the provision of guidance and information in relation to the carrying out of a risk assessment, the development of a Child Safeguarding Statement and the development and implementation of policies and procedures for safeguarding and protection of children and young people.
Sport Ireland offers three workshops in the area of Safeguarding. These are Safeguarding 1 (Basic Awareness), Safeguarding 2 (Club Children's Officer), & Safeguarding 3 (Designated Liaison Person).

All Coaches, Children’s Officers and Designated Liaison Persons (DLP) must first complete the 3 hour Child Welfare & Protection Basic Awareness Course. This course educates participants on the implementation of best practice in protecting the welfare of children involved in sport.
