17 Απρ 2018 · WHEREAS, Republic Act (RA) No. 10591, otherwise known as “An Act Providing For A Comprehensive law on Firearms and Ammunition and Providing Penalties For Violations Thereof”, was signed into law by the President of the Philippines on May 29, 2013;
For purposes of this Act, registration refers to the application, approval, record-keeping and monitoring of firearms with the FEO of the PNP in accordance with the type of license issued to any person under Section 9 of this Act.

R.A. No. 10591 designated the Firearms and Explosives Office of the Philippine National Police as the implementing arm of the Department of the Interior and Local Government for firearms. The basis of Republic Act No. 10591 was to efficiently improve and provide stiffer penalties on illegal firearm acquisition and possession.
