If I'm not mistaken, the whole POINT of Bonzi Buddy was to be a vehicle for malware. I'd recommend running it in a sandbox environment if you really need to experience it for yourself, but more than that I'd recommend just watching videos on it instead of giving them another download.

Originally brought against Bonzi Software on 4 December 2002, the suit accused Bonzi of using its banner advertisements to deceptively imitate Windows computer alerts, alerting the user that their IP address is being broadcast.
Bonzi Buddy? completely safe? No. It's widely regarded as spyware, as it presents ads that are linked to your browsing habits, which it tracks. The software was discontinued in 2004, after fines for a COPPA violation lawsuit, and the website went offline in 2008.
