Reducing fluoride exposure of young or pregnant animals may limit the development of chronic fluorosis. Animals with goiter, renal disease, and diabetes insipidus may also be at greater risk. If it is practical, filtered or bottled water may reduce exposure via drinking water.
Among the causes for pregnancy loss, viruses and non-infectious factors are among the most important. In both dogs and cats, research and clinical evidence provide proof that there is an increasing incidence of pregnancy loss associated with ...
30 Μαΐ 2012 · These changes can also be reversed or mitigated in experimental fluorotic animals by giving a supplement of vitamins and mineral antioxidants such as vitamins A, C and E, and selenium [1, 95]. Interestingly, an amelioration of fluoride effects has been observed and reported in ruminants [ 25 – 27 ].
20 Αυγ 2016 · In this chapter we present in a first time treatments of fluorosis diseases which prove the reversibility of fluorosis, and then we give experiments on animals showing the beneficial effects of supplemented foods.
In recent years, the possible adverse health effects of fluoride have gained attention as indicated by the increased number of scientific publications and reports from different media outlets, some of which highly recommend to not ‘take up any fluoride, particularly not during pregnancy’.
Skeletal fluorosis is defined as skeletal changes due to long-term ingestion of excessive fluoride and it may include hyperostosis and osteoporosis. This phenomenon is detectable when drinking water contains 3–6 mg fluoride l −1 .
Fluorosis can cause varying degrees of extensive non‐skeletal damage, with obvious diversity, and the specific mechanism varies. The common features are mostly degenerative changes in parenchymal cells without significant inflammatory response.
