FreeTaxUSA is a Scam. FreeTaxUSA charges extra fees after filing, then takes the entire refund after having it deposited in their account. The customer service is beyond useless and they just blame their bank and use that excuse to never give your refund. They're nothing more than a scam. Date of experience: February 11, 2023
I've seen multiple reports of folks saying FreeTaxUSA stole their money by putting the wrong account numbers there, but if this were the case it'd be super-easy to get solved.
Just guessing here, but it sounds like someone caught you in a phishing scheme, where they sent you an alert so that you'd put in your information into a fraudulent link.
