The acropolis museum is one of the best museums I have ever been to - it is 100% worth it especially after seeing the acropolis. The level of detail and the whole layout is astounding. Also very interesting how they have special spaces for artifacts that are currently in the British museum.
I thought solo-ing the Acropolis and it's museum at my pace would do that, but it has left me feeling disappointed. Mostly because I am not learning or feel like I am engaged with the history in front of me as I would like to.
The National Archeology is IMO a better overall museum as it gives an overview of all Ancient Greek art from the very beginning up until Roman times, but the Acropolis museum is nice to supplement your trip to the Acropolis.

But the Acropolis has some amazing history and a replica would be much less significant. The Parthenon could be in far worse shape and I would still want to visit. The ancient architecture and engineering is fascinating and I was certainly in awe when I saw it, scaffolding and all.
