The Aragonese Castle is a fortification that sits on a volcanic-rock islet just off Ischia's eastern side. It is set in the village of Ischia Ponte, once known as Borgo di Celsa, and connects to the main island via a 220-meter (700-foot) stone walkway.
One of the best castle experiences we had in Italy. Very small entry fee, well worth it for a self guided tour. The massive structure stands on a volcanic rocky islet that connects to the larger island of Ischia by a causeway. Originally the castle was built by Hiero I of Syracuse in 474 BC.
