I’ve tutored a few kids whose schools provide IXL and the point system does seem like bullshit. I haven’t seen it he’d past middle school, but it doesn’t surprise me that the high school stuff seems to be lacking.
If students use the IXL app, the whole screen can be used for scratch work. Many math curriculums can be found under Skill Plans so it’s fairly easy to find the appropriate IXL lessons that follow your textbook’s scope and sequence.
We used Study Island for a while at my school but IXL has many more topics, better explanations, and asks better questions. As for parents, IXL gives explanations so it makes it easier for them to help their kids if you assign it at home.

19 Αυγ 2024 · My high school students vary from 3rd grade level to pre-calculus, and the IXL diagnostic narrows down specific areas of growth for each student to work on. Again, every question has a step-by-step explanation to peruse. Furthermore, the analytics are comprehensive.
IXL is extremely user-friendly for teachers, students and administrators. And its real time adaptiveness is critical. Students don’t need a lengthy diagnostic before they begin.
