An infusion treatment takes about one hour to complete. mAb therapy is not authorized for use in patients who are hospitalized or require oxygen therapy due to COVID-19 or require oxygen therapy due to underlying non-COVID-19 related comorbidity.
Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) are developed in a laboratory to mimic natural antibodies produced by the immune system. mAbs are administered through intravenous infusion that takes as little as 20 minutes. This therapy is different than convalescent plasma collected from donors.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Feb. 2, 2021 – Spectrum Health West Michigan will open an infusion clinic at Spectrum Health Blodgett Hospital on Feb. 10 that uses monoclonal antibodies for the treatment of COVID-19 under a U.S. Food and Drug Administration Emergency Use Authorization.
