Over the past few months I’ve received a few calls from one of those correctional facility collect call services, i.e. an automated voice says “An inmate at [name of correctional facility] is calling for you [the inmate says their name]. To accept charges press one,” etc.
The "Jailhouse Jingle" Prison Scam, which has targeted landline phones for years, is now hitting cell phones at an alarming rate. Inmates dial numbers, hoping to get someone to approve a collect call. If someone does, they hang up and then bill their long distance prison calls to that phone number.
