Over the past few months I’ve received a few calls from one of those correctional facility collect call services, i.e. an automated voice says “An inmate at [name of correctional facility] is calling for you [the inmate says their name]. To accept charges press one,” etc.
Securus provides what it calls “location based services” to its government clients — typically jails, prisons, and related entities. It appears to be doing so in a manner that may violate federal law.
