The Japan Coast Guard Academy (海上保安大学校, Kaijō Ho'an Daigakkō) (JCGA) is a university-level service academy established within the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for the purpose of developing Coast Guard Officers and training students to offer several recurrent education.
The Postgraduate Course gives further classes in special subjects related to coast guard services, and also includes ocean voyage around the world. Besides Regular Course, the Academy offers Officer Candidate Course and several Training Courses as short term courses.
The entrance ceremony was held at the Japan Coast Guard Academy on April 10 and at the Japan Coast Guard School on April 17, 2021, respectively. The new course "Officer candidate after graduation from college" was started at the JCGA from this year, and JCGA welcomed 30 cadets of this course.
The Japan Coast Guard (Japanese: 海上保安庁, Hepburn: Kaijō Hoan-chō) is the coast guard responsible for the protection of the coastline of Japan under the oversight of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. It consists of about 13,700 personnel.
