20 Σεπ 2019 · Here's a spreadsheet I built to calculate gear ratio, tire size, speed, etc. The yellow colored cells are how to control the inputs (either drop-down or number fillable), all other cells are un-editable. Update: Added a new tab to easily compare differential ratios in top gear.
This form allows you to calculate final drive ratios as well as see a comparison of speeds and RPMs within operating ranges of the vehicle. This calculator is useful for planning your rig, allowing you to see what kind of performance to expect from different combinations.

The total gear ratio is a combination of the transmission, overdrive, transfer case and the axle ratios. Engine RPM divided by total gear ratio, multiplied by the tire diameter and converted for units of measurement, gives vehicle's speed of travel.
