15 Απρ 2024 · It doesn’t matter whether you’re terminating your travel at that point, connecting domestically, or connecting internationally. All passengers have to clear immigration and customs at their first point of entry in the United States.
28 Μαΐ 2024 · You will have immigration at your arrival terminal, then collect bags to go through customs. But after customs you drop the bags off on a conveyor. You don't have to queue up with your airline to re-check them as they should already be tagged for your destination.
The link provided gives you immigration wait times. It doesn't include baggage claim or customs. Customs usually goes fairly quickly though, especially since you are an American. Unless your flight is delayed massively, you should be fine.
28 Μαΐ 2024 · There’s no longer a separate line for customs at JFK; you just collect your bags (if you checked them) and leave. It’s possible that you’ll be stopped for a random (or not-so-random) inspection, but don’t go looking for the customs line, because there isn’t one.
