Job is the oldest book in the Bible, and it marks the transition between the first 17 historical books of the Bible, and the 5 wisdom books of the Bible. It focuses on the question of reconciling human suffering with God’s divine justice, called “theodicy”.
1. (Job 1:1-5) The earthly stage. There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil. And seven sons and three daughters were born to him.
Judging by the style of the Hebrew it uses, some scholars judge Job to be the oldest book of the Old Testament. “Ancient it is beyond all dispute. It probably belongs to the period covered by the book of Genesis; and possibly, to the time of Abraham.

So, Job’s location is Uz. This was apparently just north of Edom – which was southeast of Israel.
