Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary. 6:1-14 John relates the miracle of feeding the multitude, for its reference to the following discourse. Observe the effect this miracle had upon the people. Even the common Jews expected the Messiah to come into the world, and to be a great Prophet.
6:14-15 So when the men had seen the sign which he had done, they said: "Truly, this is the prophet who is to come into the world." So Jesus, aware that they were going to come and seize him to make him king, withdrew again to the mountain alone.
6 Απρ 2017 · Christ manifested divine power. Although Jesus showed His glory, the crowds did not grasp the meaning behind the miracle. They wanted to make Jesus a human king (Jn 6:15) for their own purpose. They wanted their physical needs met, whereas Jesus wanted to minister to their souls.
