18 I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him. 19 If anyone does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name, I myself will call him to account.
What does John 6:14 mean? Even during Jesus' earthly ministry, Deuteronomy 18:15 was interpreted to predict that a great leader like Moses would come to the people of Israel (John 1:19–21). Jesus has attracted a large crowd due to His miraculous healings (John 6:2).

6:1-14 John relates the miracle of feeding the multitude, for its reference to the following discourse. Observe the effect this miracle had upon the people. Even the common Jews expected the Messiah to come into the world, and to be a great Prophet.
6 Απρ 2017 · They wanted to make Jesus a human king (Jn 6:15) for their own purpose. They wanted their physical needs met, whereas Jesus wanted to minister to their souls. Many people of our day want to make Jesus a prophet of their own making—a great moral teacher.
John abbreviated this wonder by omitting Peter's walking on the water to go to Jesus (Matthew 14:28-31), and also Mark's record that the apostles' "heart was hardened" (Mark 6:52), a remark that proves the conflict between Christ and the apostles over the events on shore.
