13 Φεβ 2023 · Based on the observation from ERA5 and simulations from CMIP6 models, this study analyzes the unprecedented heatwave over WNA that occurred from late June to early July 2021 and investigates the changes in the likelihood of a similar heatwave to the 2021 WNA one in a warmer world.
According to an ongoing temperature analysis led by scientists at NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), the average global temperature on Earth has increased by at least 1.1° Celsius (1.9° Fahrenheit) since 1880. The majority of the warming has occurred since 1975, at a rate of roughly 0.15 to 0.20°C per decade.
31 Οκτ 2021 · The last significant La Niña event was in 2011. 2021 is around 0.18°C to 0.26 °C warmer than 2011. As the 2020-21 La Niña has waned, monthly global temperatures have increased. The year 2016, which started during a strong El Niño, remains the warmest year on record in most of the data sets surveyed.

6 Ιουν 2011 · Middle latitudes of Europe, China and North America -- including the United States -- are likely to undergo extreme summer temperature shifts within 60 years, the researchers found.
9 Μαρ 2022 · Record-breaking above-normal temperatures were observed across western North America in June–July 2021. In this study, our ability to predict this heatwave 2–3 weeks in advance is assessed based on 10 Subseasonal-to-Seasonal prediction models.
For the contiguous U.S., the June 2021 temperature was the highest for June in the nation's 127-year record, with a temperature that was 4.2°F (2.3°C) above the 20th century average. This value bested the previous record set in 2016 by a wide margin of +0.9°F (+0.5°C).
