On 16 January 1965, a U.S. Air Force Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker crashed in the central United States, in a neighborhood in north-eastern Wichita, Kansas, after taking off from McConnell Air Force Base. [1]
The Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker is an American military aerial refueling tanker aircraft that was developed from the Boeing 367-80 prototype, alongside the Boeing 707 airliner. It has a narrower fuselage and is shorter than the 707.

3 Μαΐ 2013 · A May 16, 2012 photograph from an online photo-sharing site shows a KC-135 with the same tail number and nose markings indicating the aircraft belonged to the 22nd ARW. If accurate, the tail markings indicate the plane was 388th of its kind and was ordered in 1977.

Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker, en route from Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota with 44 passengers and crew, crashes into Mount Kit Carson (5,282 feet), approximately 20 miles northeast of Spokane, while on landing approach to Fairchild Air Force Base.
On June 27, 1958, a Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker attempting to break a world speed record crashed shortly after takeoff from Westover Air Force Base, killing all 15 aboard the plane. [1]
