1 Μαΐ 2024 · The risk of developing a hypertrophic scar or keloid increases when the healing time is longer than three weeks. This can be achieved by keeping the wound clean and moisturized, thereby ensuring that the time to re-epithelialization is as short as possible.
Although there appear to be more reported differences between hypertrophic and keloid scars (Table 2) than similarities (see Table 1), the latter table does suggest that that hypertrophic and keloid scars share several pathogenetic mechanisms.
