This paper reviews the management options of ear keloids available in literature up to date. Multiple therapeutic options are discussed, such as: surgical treatment, corticosteroid injections, laser therapy, cryotherapy, radiotherapy, pressure therapy, therapy with antitumor or immunosuppressive agents.
Adjuvant treatment should be considered for patients who have residual keloid tissue within the body of their ears/earlobes. Magnetic disks (Fig. 13) shall be used as the primary method of adjuvant treatment for all such patients (see KRF Guideline-MD) and should be continued for 3-4 months.

Keloids are challenging to treat due to the high probability of recurrence. In our multidisciplinary team we have used a combined approach for management of patients with keloids on the ear. We present a case series of six patients.
23 Ιουλ 2020 · Key Summary Points. Introduction. Keloids are a pathologic response to cutaneous injury in which wound tissue grows above and beyond the inciting insult. These lesions disproportionally affect patients with skin of color, especially of African, Asian, and Hispanic backgrounds [1].
Aetiology. The aetiology of keloids is still poorly under-stood. The most common regions of the skin for keloids include upper arms, skin overlying joints, chest, shoulders and head–neck regions, particu-larly the ear lobes (Figure 1). The anatomical location of a keloid appears to alter its morpho-logical characteristics.
In this prospective interventional study, 21 female patients who developed keloid after earlobe piercing were consecutively enrolled for surgical excision followed by intralesional triamcinolone acetonide (TA) injection.
