7 Νοε 2011 · I bought a kit from Ken Schwartz, and got a 140 diamond hone along with it. It's so easy and quick to use compared to the waterstones. No need to worry about stone flatness, just add some oil to help with the waste removal and go.
19 Νοε 2014 · Inspect the flatness and thickness of the stones before use. If they are not flat, use a diamond plate, sand paper on a glass plate, or Edge Pro leveling kit to flatten them. If the thickness differs, sharpening angle would change at each stone.
27 Ιαν 2017 · My preference is to sharpen edge-leading with the spine towards me, and the edge away from me. I pass the knife handle from one hand to the other. I keep the edge somewhat diagonal to the stone and move the knife away from me down the length of the stone and to the side. I use this motion for scrubbing and sweeping.
29 Σεπ 2012 · I want to thank Ken Schwartz for generously providing enough nano-cloth strops mounted to aluminum blanks to conduct the study. I started by preparing a bunch of samples with super polished bevels so we would be able to clearly see the effects of various abrasives.
14 Σεπ 2012 · Ken Schwartz has found that solution with his diamond films on Float Glass, which range from a whopping 165 micron (100 grit) to 0.1 micron (150,000 grit!). Not only that, it’s currently available in several sizes: 1″ x 6″ for the Edge Pro, 2″ x 6″, and a “full size” 3″ x 8″.
I took one of Tom’s pics – the Shapton 5k stone texturized with the 600 grit Atoma – and did a bit of image processing to bring out the scratch pattern a bit more to see the scratches more clearly.
