In 1992, Vance started a doo wop group, the re-formed (no longer fictional) Kenny Vance and The Planotones from American Hot Wax. Kenny cast Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis to play themselves, but he needed a vocal group so he enlisted some friends and along with himself they became Professor La Plano and The Planotones.
He re-formed The Planotones in 1992 and has brought this passion, along with his soulful vocals, to new heights. In 2002, Kenny Vance was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall Of Fame; in 2007, he was inducted into the Long Island Music Hall Of Fame. Click here to see Kenny’s complete timeline bio.

In 1992, Vance would go on to form Kenny Vance and the Planotones, a band that continues touring today. As exemplified by the group’s signature song, “Looking for an Echo,” their material is influenced by the music of the 1950s and 1960s.
